3 words you’re going to hear all season long Chunky Knit Sweater
You’ve seen them on your favorite celebrities. You’ve admired the way your friends and co-workers have been wearing theirs. You’ve even tried on a few, but just wasn’t sure how to style them. Well from this moment on, you’re going to know exactly how to spot the perfect chunky knit sweater, and how to style it just for you.
What to consider before buying your next chunky knit sweater
The first thing you should consider is the color. I tend to stick to neutral colors. A good neutral makes it more versatile and easier to wear with a variety of bottoms.
The second thing, and probably the most important, to consider is the silhouette of the sweater. The key word here is chunky, so don’t go for fitted when choosing your sweater. You want over-sized, long or cropped (your choice,) and maybe even a high neckline.
The last thing you want to consider is a complementary bottom. Your chunky sweater should be paired with a bottom that will show off your shape. If you wear your sweater over fuller bottoms, it could end up making you look much bigger.
To make it easier, here are tips for choosing the perfect bottom:
- If you choose jeans, try the messy tuck-in. Tucking your sweater in on one side will show off just enough of your waist-line. This looks best with high-waist bottoms.
- Try anything fitted to the body to create a more sliming silhouette. Fitted skirts or pants are perfect examples.
- Go for denim skirts and over the knee boots. This is a great style tip if you want a little edge.
How I applied the above tips to pull off the look
Now that you have the tips, check out how I used them to style my sweater.
I took to the streets of LA, wearing my blush pink cable-knit sweater.
This sweater is cute and cozy, and the lose knit makes it breathable, which was perfect for LA weather.
I went with a timeless, fitted denim skirt and on-trend snake skin boots. Pairing it with a matching blush fedora, totally anchored the look. A sweater and hat are a classic winter combo.
No look is complete without thoughtful accessories. I chose oversized square sunglasses and a petite designer bag to finish this look.
This style is chic, cozy and right on trend. You’re all set to go find chunky knit sweaters you’ll want to wear every day.
