The first thing you should consider is the color. I tend to stick to neutral colors. A good neutral makes it more versatile and easier to wear with a variety of bottoms.

The second thing, and probably the most important, to consider is the silhouette of the sweater. The key word here is chunky, so don’t go for fitted when choosing your sweater. You want over-sized, long or cropped (your choice,) and maybe even a high neckline.   

The last thing you want to consider is a complementary bottom. Your chunky sweater should be paired with a bottom that will show off your shape. If you wear your sweater over fuller bottoms, it could end up making you look much bigger.

   

To make it easier, here are tips for choosing the perfect bottom:

• If you choose jeans, try the messy tuck-in. Tucking your sweater in on one side will show off just enough of your waist-line. This looks best with high-waist bottoms.
• Try anything fitted to the body to create a more sliming silhouette. Fitted skirts or pants are perfect examples. 
• Go for denim skirts and over the knee boots. This is a great style tip if you want a little edge.
