To say I feel lucky is
an understatement. When I received my invitation to the 2013 Lucky Fabb
event in New York city I was beyond excited. Then I realized the date’s
coincided with my husband’s business trip, leaving me with no one to
look after the kids, hence I was pretty bummed. However both my amazing
sisters and one of my best friends/cousin decided that I couldn’t miss
out on such an amazing opportunity and flew in from Toronto and Texas respectively to babysit, making me a truly lucky girl.
The Lucky Fabb event is a fashion and beauty event held by Lucky
Magazine to bring together a variety of fashion and beauty bloggers. The
event is designed for networking and educating both new and veteran
bloggers on how to navigate and be successful in this booming fashion
blogging industry.
To give you an idea of how fabulous the event was, it was a two day
event with day 2 held at the Conde Nast building(The offices of Vogue
and Lucky Magazine, and I actually spotted Grace Coddington, creative
director of Vogue!) and featured the likes of actresses Eva Mendez, Kate
Bosworth, Style blogger and ‘America’s Next Top Model guest judge Bryan
Boy and of course editor in chief of Lucky Magazine Eva Chen.
Because
I knew there would be so much fashion at the event I decided to go for a
look that was definitely fashion-forward. Leather is undoubtedly one of
the hottest trends this season hence making my paper thin leather dress
with tulle lining peaking out, perfect. I wore a crisp white collared
shirt under the leather dress and tied an oversized bow to give the
would-be harsh leather look some
fun-girly appeal. Playing off the girly twist I decided to add a huge
pop of color with my bag. To elongate my silhouette especially my legs, I
threw on a pair of black tights. I believe all truly cool looks should
have a twist, which is why I did not hesitate to throw on my biker
boots. Details like leather, the oversized bow, a colorful spiked bag
and biker booties all give this girly/biker look the edge needed to make
this outfit a stylish stand out amongst a crowd full of very stylish
women.
