When we first moved into our new home in February, I knew I wanted to fix up the patio right off the dining room but didn’t feel there was a need to get it done right away. Then the pandemic hit. Being stuck safe at home has awaken a love for home decor I knew I had, but not like this! I have found true joy in creating functional yet stylish spaces in my home. When Amazon Home contacted me to create an outdoor work-form-home space, you can’t imagine my joy. We all know that Amazon is a one stop for all things, and yes, that includes Home! I was literally able to create the perfect, stylish and functional at-home workspace that could also double up as a dining space.
Amazon Home’s selection is extensive with tons of on-trend home decor to create amazing outdoor spaces. I have a screened-in, covered patio, hence I was able to select items that work for both indoor and outdoor spaces. It also doesn’t get cold in Atlanta till the end of the year, so I intend to use this space for a while. Scroll to the bottom to see some of the products I used, why I loved them and decorating tips.

The items I picked
If there is one thing that I keep in mind when decorating a space, it is that you must always select items you love. I found so many pieces from all the amazing brands available on Amazon Home. Amazon’s brands, such as Rivet and Stone & Beam, had an amazing selection of modern home items that compliment the overall decor of my home. My indoor/outdoor rug is contemporary and anchors the space. I wanted a table that was neutral, not too big and tied in seamlessly with the contemporary modern vibe of the overall home. On the table, I added a marble tray to house my coffee cup, pens, or anything else I would need easy access to while working. I love wishbone chairs and have always wanted them! These well-made chairs are made of solid wood. They are comfortable, compact and look amazing in the space.I can’t keep plants alive for the life of me! Amazon Home has a vast selection of faux plants. The plants I picked for the space look so real and are great for the space. I selected modern, clean planters to house the plants. Storage doesn’t have to be boring. That is why I selected this set of 3 round woven baskets. I used the baskets to house books, magazines, and extra blankets. Mixing metal colors is a thing for me and you will see that in every room in my house that is why I got outdoor lanterns in black and silver. My limbs tend to get cold, even in the summer, hence the multiple blankets in the space. I also love how blankets add interest and warmth to the space. The last feature item in the space is the decorative blanket ladder. I love the ladder because not only is it a decorative piece, but it also adds function. It’s a great way to house extra blankets for cooler days ahead.

Why I love this space
I won’t lie, I absolutely LOVE this outdoor workspace, and my husband and kids love it too. The decor of this patio works perfectly with the rest of my home. My neighborhood is pretty quiet; hence it is the perfect space for me to escape to get my creative juices flowing. My husband also loves working in the space and tends to go their first thing in the morning to read, reflect and to have his morning coffee. I highly recommend creating an outdoor workspace in your home, as it is a great way to experience the outdoors and be productive at the same time.D
DECOR TIPS: Things to consider when creating your outdoor work space
- Measure your space before buying anything.
- Check all measurements of the items you would like to buy before purchasing them to ensure they will fit. (In addition to this I like to draw an outline of the space and add the pieces into the outline to give myself an idea of how much space I have between items). Amazon Home offers View in Room which is a feature that lets you visualize products in your space by using your smartphone camera. To use View in Room, just click the camera icon on the Amazon mobile app home screen or click “View in Room” from a product page on the mobile app. How cool is that!
- Make sure there is a continuous design theme, hence the pieces you select for your outdoor space should flow with the rest of the house.
