I know, when you think of a quilted coat you’re thinking of soccer mom, or a convenient coat to throw on during the cold seasons. Well I’m here to help you rethink the way you think about the quilted coat. It’s getting cold outside, hence we need pieces that will help keep us warm during the cooler temperatures. A quilted jacket is a great option for keeping warm in the cold weather. That is why I have partnered with Bloomingdales to show you how to look stylish and on trend in a quilted coat.
Today’s post explores fashionable ways to where the quilted Coat. Most quilted coats are somewhat light weight but lined with thinsulate to help keep the body warm and comfortable during the cold. Depending on how cold it is you can either layer the quilted jacket with another sweater piece or wear like a blazer over a tee. You can wear it this way because the coat is heavily thinsulated and not overly bulky.
For the most part, winters in Atlanta are not severe hence making your coat an extension of your outfit is easy to pull off. In addition to leaving the coat open, I scrunched up my sleeves, and turned the lining of the coat in side out to showcase the plaid detail.
The plaid detail on the jacket made it easy to introduce this fabulous plaid pleated skirt to the look. Pleated skirts are on trend right now so you cannot go wrong with wearing one. I picked this midi length skirt for two reasons. One it’s stylish and on trend, and two; the length helps stay warm in the cool temperature. Booties and skirts are such a major trend, hence pairing the skirt with these amazing Gucci booties was a no-brainer.
3 tips to pulling off the quilted coat
1. Select a color that is on trend. Burgundy, hunter green, burnt orange are all colors that are major this season. These rich hues look amazing as quilted coats and help keep your look stylish and trendy. 2. Scrunch up the sleeves of your jacket to add a style appeal. If it’s too cold where you live, simply scrunch or roll up your sleeves and wear a pair of long gloves. By introducing long gloves to the look, you remain warm and fashionable. 3. Belt your quilted jacket. Although I did not belt mine in this look, belting a coat or wearing a belt bag over your coat is a street style look celebrities and fashion stars are dawning this season.
