What to expect from Awed by Monica in 2019
Hey 2019, I know we just met, but I already feel a connection to you. I have big plans for us, plans that include What Would Moni Wear, Meet Ups with Moni and so much more!
What Would Moni Wear will not launch until late February, however it will be worth the wait. This new feature will tap into my 19years of luxury style expertise, and highlight what to wear to every and any event you can think of. Dinner, weddings, work, a tea party, mom activities, etc. In addition to style inspiration, WWMW will also provide shopping links to ensure you have all the tools you need to get the right look for your special occasions.
I am especially excited about Meet Ups With Moni, because every other Month I will host 5 Awed by Monica followers in a city near you! Here is a short video detailing what to expect in the new year.
2019 will feature blog posts that are highly detailed, with shopping options at all price-points, and practical style tips that will help you curate your every day wardrobe. The first trend I will highlight this year is the sweatshirt trend.
Why I am obsessed with the sweatshirt trend
Athleisure made it’s mark in 2018, and it has no intention of stopping it’s momentum in 2019. The fact that you can elevate your sporty sweatshirt to look chic, and wear it morning, noon, and night, makes it a wardrobe essential.
Finding items that work for mom life, and work life can be a little tedious. However sweatshirts have proven to be a wardrobe item that accommodates all aspects of my life. Over the holidays I literally packed a ton of sweatshirts for my two week vacation to Toronto, and was able to wear them from day to night, switching bottoms and shoes to accommodate my events.
Why people are spending thousands on this trend
I’m not the only one that’s obsessed with sweatshirts right now, because every major designer is offering a huge assortment of sweatshirts. Fashion houses such as Gucci, Balenciaga, and Fendi, are selling these sporty looks with prices that are upwards of $1300!
I know you’re thinking who would spend that much money on a sweatshirt? The truth is, there is a large amount of people all over the world that are spending their money on these items. Sweatshirts created by Gucci are constantly selling out because people are not just wearing them as casual everyday wear, but they are wearing them for a variety of events such as birthday parties, brunches and more.
It’s easy to justify spending this much money on a sweatshirt if you can get multiple use out of it. I view these items as investment pieces. These pieces hold their value, and have great resale value. If you don’t believe me just check eBay.

What to wear with your sweatshirt
For my New Year’s video (view above), I put together the perfect outfit featuring a sweatshirt. In order to make the sweatshirt trend look chic you have to pair it with the right items. I paired my sweatshirt with some of the seasons hottest fashion trends. Snakeskin boots, the Chloe Medium Tess leather saddle bag, and midi skirts are all major fashion pieces this season. These pieces do an amazing job of elevating the sweatshirt making it extremely chic, and wearable for every day life.
